I have tried a couple colors out in this room, even attempted to wall paper it, I THINK I have found the color I love!
I finally finished a long awaited project! Off of our living room we have a very small powder room. It has a slanted ceiling a sink and a toilet and not much else. Since we moved in that room has been white red blue and now FINALLY a color I think that I like: wheat.
Originally a couple weeks ago I thought that I would use a removable wallpaper to brighten up the space. So I painted around all the edges sanded down what I thought were rough spots in the lightly textured walls. I took out the light fixture took out all of the outlet covers and prepped the room for a makeover. But when my wallpaper finally arrived and I tried to install it I found that even add light texture was causing bubbles and all kinds of havoc and chaos. Ick! No one has time for that!
But as I sat and waited for more rolls of wallpaper to come so I could finish the job I realized that I kinda like the way it looked just white and simple even with the little bit of paint that I had used to touch up around the edges. So I decided I would just use extra paint that we had around the house and make do AND actually save money. The extra money could then be used for touches like a new mirror and brushed bronzed hooks that I attached to an old piece of reclaimed wood to use as a towel rack.
I also decided I would change out the light fixture and because my budget was tight I turned to my favorite online store: Craigslist.
I knew I wanted a three light fixture to go over our small pedestal sink and I found one for $15 and I actually talked the guy down to 10! A couple coats of a metallic spray paint and a sanding in spots, it now looks much better and blends in with all of the other accessories that I’ve used in our little powder room makeover.
I found some sweet herb prints on Etsy that were 5 x 7. They took forever to arrive as they were from England, but I love them! Then I found the perfect frames I was looking for at Target. I purchased three of them and I love the way that they look over the rustic towel rack that I assembled and hung up.
It’s such a small room I’m surprised at all the other colors I tried at first! I really think that this is probably the best color for it and as small as the room is it’s actually kind of a soothing retreat, and I enjoy now just going in there and using the new towels to try my hands and smell the yummy candles I have set out for when company comes. That is, I love the color for now, who knows what color I’ll want to try say…a couple of months from now! Thank you for following along though, and sharing in my DIY antics.
